This is an instructor development course designed to provide participants with the tools, skills, knowledge, and abilities to efficiently organize, coordinate, sequence, and present the following TCOLE courses: CIT #1850 & #3843, and Mental Health Peace Officer Certification Course # 4201. This is a comprehensive 8 hours course that fills the void of a prevalent law enforcement training issue, complete & proper preparation for off duty events. We’ll discus s the dynamics involved during off duty defensive and/or enforcement intervention.
Students will go full circle learning what goes on before, during and after an off duty intervention in a safe, practical and legal manner. This course involves video analysis, hands on demonstrations, meaningful statistics, case studies and full speed “off-duty themed” force on force scenario based drills utilizing marking training ammunition.

This insightful and fast paced workshop surveys the principles of public service and the challenges of the deteriorating core moral values and ethics of the new generation of modern day warriors. This workshop teaches officers that responding to a particular situation has two components: reactions and actions. While policy, SOP & the law typically focuses on the officers’ actions, ethics considers not only the action, but also the motivation for the action. This workshop is presented without censorship or political correctness and provides a straight forward approach to officer safety from within an ethical perspective and addressing career and legal survival.

This presentation offers a clear and concise breakdown of the factors and dynamics of human performance involved while responding to, or involved in a critical incident. We’ll explain the components of the “Fight or Flight Response Syndrome” to explore alternatives for optimal performance, critical thinking and stress mitigation.

This class is an interactive approach to safely manage a case of Excited Delirium (ExDs). Attendees will learn how to recognize and safely handle a case of Excited Delirium during any of its respective phases. Special emphasis will be placed on risk management and best practices.

This course addresses the nuances of body language when broadcasting potential violent attacks during field contacts (street & correctional setting). This course provides participants with the science behind the human factors involved before, during, and after the act of violence is carried out so that they can do this: Prevent it before it happens , recognize it while it’s about to happen, mitigate it while it’s happening, control it after it has happened.
Participants will be provided with evidence-based information to apply passive and active countermeasures during a field encounter on the street and in a correctional setting. This presentation involves lecture and demonstration of the skills discussed during class.

This course combines lecture, video analysis and reality based force-on-force drills to illustrate the most common pre-assault indicators in which officers are being killed while confronting criminal gunmen. Students will learn proxemics, body mechanics and ranges of motion as they relate to the dynamics of an attack, either methodical or sudden. Students will also learn how to recognize and safely anticipate to an ambush attack while deploying effective countermeasures.

Military veterans experience a unique set of circumstances upon reintegrating into society post deployment. Veterans can suffer physical and psychological aftereffects from traumatic experiences that can culminate in injury to themselves, their families and public safety/law enforcement personnel. This program was developed to provide public safety personnel (i.e. law enforcement, fire, EMS and 911 dispatchers) with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to defuse crisis situations that can arise when veterans reintegrate into their communities.

Foot pursuits are one of the most dangerous actions an officer can take. An officer’s decision to pursue on foot should be made with an awareness of the risk involved. As with ALL other enforcement actions, the decision to start and continue a foot pursuit should always be balanced between the need to apprehend the suspect, and the risk posed to the pursuing officer and members of the community. In this course, we discuss tactical considerations as well as other factors to consider before, during and after a foot pursuit, decision making, hazards, mental readiness, & force options for pursuit termination. This course includes force-on-force drills with mock pursuit drills.

This class is designed to certify an individual to be a statewide resource as a mental health officer (MHO), per Texas Occupations Code 1701.404, and TCOLE Rule §221.11; An MHO assists responding law enforcement officers determine, if and what, actions can be taken regarding the individual(s)’s 4th Amendment rights, due to the individual(s)’s incapacitation caused by their mental health crisis. This course certifies an individual on how to identify applicable situations for intervention, appropriate local resources for the demographics of the jurisdiction, and best practices on building resource/community connections.
